Sapa 3 Day Trekker

3 days, 2 nights | cultural, trekking | homestay

This three day Sapa trek gets you deep into this beautiful northern region, visiting ethnic minority villages and staying at homestays. During the day you’ll walk through some of the most breath-taking scenery in the country, and at night, enjoy the hospitality of your homestay hosts, learning about their culture and enjoying some ‘Happy Water’. Tourism has grown dramatically in this region, but with YESD you’ll be contributing in a positive way, and supporting our programs that help the local communities.

  • Day 1: Sapa – Cat Cat – Y Linh Ho – Lao Chai – Ta Van

Your guide will meet you at your hotel in Sapa at 9AM. You’ll start the day with a walk around this charming town with your guide, popping into the local market, the old cathedral, and you’ll get to meet some of the local ethnic minority people. We’ll then begin the journey through Muong Hoa Valley. You’ll get to explore Cat Cat Cat, Linh Ho and Lao Chai villages, home to the H’mong people. After a local lunch, we’ll continue hiking to Ta Van Village, where you will stay with a Giay family. Here you will have the opportunity to learn about their daily life and customs. For dinner, your guide and host family will guide you through the cooking process so you can learn how to cook some Vietnamese food. After dinner you will have free time and can get to know your hosts.

  • Day 2: Ta Van – Giang Ta Chai – Su Pan – Ban Ho

After breakfast, we start uphill, passing by rice fields and small villages. We’ll enter a bamboo forest and take a break at a nearby waterfall, then head towards Giang Ta Chai Village. This village is home to the Red Zao people and sits on top of a hill, looking down to the Muong Hoa River. We’ll then continue to Su Pan Village and visit the local handicraft centre, where both H’mong and Zao artisans work. Lunch will be eaten nearby and we’ll have time for a well deserved break. When you are ready, we’ll continue the trek to Ban Ho Village for an overnight stay with a Tay family. The family will make you dinner and if you like, you can try some ‘Happy Water’!

  • Day 3: Ban Ho – Nam Toong – Sapa

On your last day well make a short trip to the remote Nam Toong village of the Red Dao people. Here you will learn about their unique customs and explore the village. If the weather is good there will be time for a swim, before heading back to the homestay for lunch. After lunch, it is time to head back to Sapa. The tour ends here, but if you plan to head back to Hanoi on the night train, or by bus, we can help arrange this.
